Speaking and hearing are the primary way we communicate. The mission of JNA Québec is to raise awareness among the general public and its representatives regarding the issues of hearing loss and hearing loss prevention by spreading information on risk factors, resources and deafness.
As an executive committee member of the non profit organization JNA, I am happy to say that Montreal’s “Hearing Day in Quebec” (May 7th and 8th, 2019) was an amazing success. Over the two days we spread the news about the resources available to those suffering from hearing loss, helped nearly 200 people get free hearing tests, and provided information to help overcome the stigma associated with the condition.
On May 7th we were joined by Lucie Tremblay, directrice des soins infirmiers au CIUSSS Centre-Ouest de Montréal, at the Jewish General Hospital, and by Rosalie Dion, Director of nursing at the Donald Berman Maimonides Geriatric Centre as well as the Associate director of the CIUSSS Centre-Ouest Montreal, at Jewish Elder Care. The next day we were at Donald Berman Maimonides and at St Margaret’s Residential Centre in Westmount.
Thanks to Barry Morgan (Communication and Media Relations at the CIUSSS South-West Montreal), Global News and CBC radio for getting the word out and especially to everyone who took the time to come to these important JNA events ... See you next year!!!
